Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q. Who do you sell to?
A. Seaport Marine is a maritime construction material supplier that sells industrial supplies to both individuals and corporations.
Q. What does galvanized mean?
A. Clean steel is lowered into a vat containing 850 degree molten zinc where the chemical reaction permanently bonds the zinc to the steel. Therefore the zinc isn't exactly a sealer, like paint, because it doesn't just coat the steel; it actually permanently becomes part of it.
Q. How long can I expect my galvanized steel to last in service?
A. Hot-dip galvanized steel resists corrosion in numerous environments extremely well. It is not uncommon for galvanized steel to last more than 70 years under certain conditions. This makes galvanized steel the perfect application for saltwater and moisture applications.
Q. What is double dipped galvanization?
A. There is no such thing as double dipped galvanization. Once the steel is galvanized the process is complete. In order to be galvanized again the steel must be cleanned and the galvanization process repeated.
